The 4th of July

We went to Malad for the 4th of July. They had a parade in the morning where they got enough candy to rival Halloween's loot. Then we went downtown to the Old West Shoot-Out. The kids liked that. When one guy got shot and slumped over a table, Preston asked me if he was really dead. "Yes," I told him. Later he was still pretty concerned and asked, "Mom, is that guy really dead?" I had to tell him it was just pretend. That's when they saw the clown and wanted their picture taken with him.

After that we went to the park where they had all the activities going on. They have a Malad Idol (like American Idol, but with local people), which I never can remember why I want to go to it every year and Lance asks me the same thing: "Why do we watch this every year?" But the hypnotist is worth going for...so funny.

They had kid's races at the park and Emma crawled in the "crawlers division" from me on one side to Lance on the other. She was crawling for a second then stopped and played with the grass. I showed her where Lance was and when she spotted him, she waved to him...she was so ho-hum about it all...she didn't care about the race and all the parents urging their babies on!

She finally decided to start moving again...there's daddy trying to get her attention from some kid hanging out in the race zone...?...
It was a fun day, not too deathly hot like last year. Hope you all had a good one too.

Looks like you guys had the best time. I wish we would have come up for the day. Maybe next year.
